Photographs show site contamination and the addition of having asbestos water main, the site was on a public roadway in the Riverstone/Schofield area, as the pipes were exposed, they were then lifted form the trench using soft slings. Pipes such as these are generally in 4.0m lengths or less and provided not under pressure can be easily’ popped’ at the joins. The excavation discovered that even though the water pipe was undamaged the trench, for whatever reason had copious quantities of asbestos fragments at the base, consequently more soils had to be removed.
